Our parishioners who serve as ushers welcome those arriving for the weekend and Holy Day Masses, take up weekly offering collections, control the flow of communicants, distribute parish bulletins and perform any other necessary tasks. Ushers contribute effectively toward making the worship experience a reverent one for parishioners and visitors. Eight ushers are needed for each Mass on the weekend. Adults and teens, both male and female are welcome.

We are currently seeking to expand our roster of Ushers to support weekend Masses. Primary Usher duties include:
A testimony from an Usher
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.” Galatians 5:22
For years, my dad was the head usher at our home parish of St Bernard of Clairvaux in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Every week, this required us to leave for mass early which I was not a big fan of. But when I saw the joy, kindness, and goodness on his face as he warmly greeted his fellow parishioners, as he patiently helped them find an open seat, and as he ensured they safely made their way to Communion, I was inspired and motivated to consider his service through a different lens and ultimately to deepen my own faith.
Several years later and nearly a decade after my dad passed, I was asked after an ACTS retreat if I had any interest in serving as an usher at St. Peter. I jumped at the chance and knew my dear ol’ dad in heaven would be so thrilled that his oldest son was following in his footsteps.
Today, it is a true honor to work alongside my fellow ushers as we cheerfully and faithfully serve our parish with a smile. With the fruits of the Holy Spirit as our guide, our goal is to lovingly welcome all, to set the tone for a reverent mass experience, and to help prepare the congregation to fully embrace, hear, and respond to the Word of God.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as an usher and I have no doubt that my faith is stronger as a result.
