4th graders with experience may play in Junior League Please note, in most cases, they will be competing against 5th graders
Consists of THREE 55-minute group lessons and SIX 9-hole rounds of golf competing against the other schools in the South Central CYC district. Designed for the recreational golfer. Beginners encouraged.
Lessons will take place at Kirkwood Family Golf and Learning Center
Matches will be played at several area courses
Scores are kept for individual golfers
Teams consist of 5-8 players. Your "team" is the group of golfers you will be scheduled to play with weekly. Boys and girls are separated. Grades are separated as best as possible but 4th, 5th and 6th grades will always stay together and 7th and 8th grades will stay together.
Based on individual performance during 6 weeks of matches, players can advance to the South-Central District Championship. From there, top qualifiers can advance to the Archdiocesan Individual Championship Tournament.
STP Golf polos are required for play and are included in the registration cost. Hats are available too, but not required.
Players are required to provide their own clubs
Each team will require a parent coordinator to volunteer and manage the schedule, players, scores, shirt distribution, and team communication including course updates, rainouts, etc. Occasionally, players from another parish will be added to our roster if they don't have enough players to form their own team. Parents are encouraged to follow players during matches (for support and to facilitate fast play, but on-course coaching is strictly forbidden).
All Junior League players AND one parent are required to complete the online Rules & Etiquette Seminar and take the corresponding Junior Golfer Quiz/Parent Quiz prior to match play.
