Dear People of Saint Peter,
Greetings to you from our Exile, the third day since our exile began.
I can’t tell you how much I miss seeing you on a daily or weekly basis already. Being a strong extravert and an “E” on the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory I get my energy from my relationship with you and seeing you in person. It is in the Mass and celebrating the Eucharist with you and sharing Sunday Supper with you at our altar that I connect with you. It is in celebrating the Sacraments that I bond with you and become the Father of the Saint Peter Parish Family. We become family around the Lord’s Supper Table. I have to admit it is lonely around here without you. I long for the day “down the road” when we will once again gather in our beautiful church and celebrate the Eucharist together. Not having this every day sure makes us much more aware of what we are missing and desire it all the more. Absence does make the heart grow fonder.
“The Church obliges the faithful” to take part in the Divine Liturgy on Sundays and feast days and, prepared by the sacrament of Reconciliation, to receive the Eucharist at least once a year, if possible during the Easter Season.” --Catechism of the Catholic Church, *1389
Let us all pray for those with the Coronavirus and those who care for them especially the medical world. And...let us pray for this to the virus to be contained and end. Take care, stay well and stay safe. Until a later time...I’ll see you in church.
Monsignor Jack
