Parish School of Religion (PSR)

Our PSR program provides formal Catholic religious education in the classroom setting on Tuesdays during the school year, with Session 1 from 4:45-6:00 PM and Session 2 from 6:30-7:45 PM. Students in the program attend area public schools and non-Catholic private schools.  Our program continues and supplements the religious formation from parents, who are the first teachers of their children in the ways of the faith. We assist families in the areas of knowledge of the faith, beliefs and Christian life skills and religious practices, and strengthening the growing relationship with Jesus and his Church. Children in Grade 2 are prepared to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion, and youth in Grade 8 are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Our program currently has an enrollment of 380 in Grades 1-8 in the Tuesday program.  Contact Andrea Bonsanti at 314-821-0460 x4208 or email abonsanti@stpeterkirkwood.org for more information.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School Update 2017

St. Peter Parish will not be hosting Vacation Bible School this summer as we re-evaluate our program and explore a new opportunity for next year.

St. Peter Parish believes that Vacation Bible School or a similar youth summer program is an extremely valuable and enriching program and something we would love to offer every year. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the program this year since over the past several years it has become more and more of a struggle to get enough adult volunteers for a successful program. Vacation Bible School requires many enthusiastic volunteers, so if you are interested and passionate about our youth, we would love for you to join the team next year!

There are many churches in our area with Vacation Bible Schools this summer. These programs are typically open to all young children, not just their own parishioners.

Sunday School

St. Peter Sunday School serves pre-school children ages 3 through Kindergarten.  Classes take place in school classrooms during the 9:00 AM Mass time, so that parents can attend that liturgy.  Children participate in activities in two age groups:  3/4 year olds and Pre-K/K for 5 and 5+.  Classes include a pre-school curriculum that leads right into our religion curriculum in our both our PSR and full-time school.  Music, scripture and lively activities round out the program.   About 30 children currently attend Sunday School.  Classes are held from late September through the beginning of May, except for holiday weekends.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

On Sunday mornings during the 9:00 AM Mass, children in grades one through five attend their own Liturgy Of The Word in the Rectory basement.  The children are dismissed with the leaders of the Word of God after the Opening Prayer and return during the preparation of the gifts.
